I am from Podunk, NY.  (Actually, Wellsville, but its basically the same thing.)  And I love concerts.  I’m used to having to drive 2 or more hours to get to any live music venue, especially for a Christian music artist.  So when I heard that Charlie Hall was going to be here in Gainesville, GA at a church just a few minutes away, I was in.

So, in my backyard, I had an incredible experience.  If you’ve never heard of Charlie Hall, I’d highly recommend checking him out.  He is a man filled with real passion and a gift for helping others connect with the condition of their heart (not to mention a sweet goatee).  In the midst of a song I’d never heard before, my heart was stirred.  “Chain Breaker, Heart Savior, Jesus the Great Redeemer…Life Changer, Liberator, Jesus the Great Redeemer…You are free, you are free, yeah the Son has set you free.  Drop your chains sons and daughters, come and run in liberty!”  (Charlie Hall, “Chain Breaker”)

Last night, in the midst of my heart connecting with those words, I had a revelation.  Moving to Georgia and being really being stretched – new environment, new food, new friends, new job, new schedule, new struggles, new tears – feels like God is breaking me.  But what if He is really just trying to set me free?  I have fears and insecurities and questions and doubts that often keep me trapped inside myself.  What if God is just longing to unleash those chains so that I might be able to live as one who is set free?

I now ask you…do you need to be set free?  Do you feel trapped?  By home, by your job, by your fears, by your wounds, by life?  The key, my friend, is not a new house or new family or new job or masking your wounds…the key can only be found in the power of Jesus Christ.  He loves you madly and longs to set you free.  Will you join me in allowing the God of the Universe to touch the deepest part of your soul and set you free?  I’d love to chat with you if I could help.  There is another way, beloved…perhaps it is time for both of us to walk in it.

Whoever the Son has set free is free indeed. ~John 8:36
